always a Student of Yoga but no longer a Student Yoga Teacher...

Posted by Lauren Daisy Clarke · 2 October
Today I am no longer a Student Yoga Teacher.. but I will always be a student of Yoga, my 4 years with the British Wheel of Yoga, (2 years as Derbyshire County Rep) Foundation 1 & 2, my 3 year Teacher Training is officially complete... it hasn't really had time to digest but to now draw a line under this part of my life feels very cathartic.. as one chapter closes another will begin & for that I am most grateful.. whenever I say to myself.... I have learned so much.. I am always reminded of
Hafez’s “I Have Learned So Much“ (translated by Daniel Ladinsky in 'The Gift')

...I have learned so much from God
That I can no longer call myself A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Jew.
The truth has shared so much of itself with me
That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel, or even a pure soul.
Love has befriended Hafez so completely, it has turned to ash and freed me… Of every concept and image, my mind has ever known.

Glapwell class

I owe a lot to this class, after completing my first assessed class I wanted a break & decided to stop teaching.. a lovely man gave me a call looking for a yoga teacher, he had beginner students waiting.. so I went.. & I taught them & I stayed & they worked hard, they improved but so did I, even when the studio is complete I hope I honour this class by staying with them till they have had enough of me

and since March....

having lost my iMac many months ago, & of course being in my final year of my Yoga TT.. i really did  lose interest in updating things

31 January 2014

We started the year's workshops with lovely Monique Fryer.. then across to Shrewsbury to work with Zoe Knott on handstands/headstands, the following week we went to Kent for a couple of days to work with Zoe again (& Hugh) Zoe's friday night class was a complete killer, i have never isolated & used muscles in such a way before & so very safe too, after class we went home with them for soup, tea & lovely conversation.. Saturday was King Pigeon half taught by Zoe & then Hugh, again really strong day but loved it

Never been under the Thames before.. Blackwall Tunnel

i am on my 4th week of teaching Yoga.. this is relaxation in my class, the room we have is so lovely, clean, spacious & underfloor heated... the first class i taught i thought was awful, the 2nd/3rd were great, last night i had a lady in her 60's who had 'asthma' though turns out she has COPD & smokes, i'm finding teaching difficult, its in my nature to nuture & I should be a therapist really, i can't just mass teach & go through the motions especially when i have been through so much.. i really have to work on this

ending 2013

Jodie ran a full Primary on Sunday 22nd 8.30am.. followed by our usual breakfast & waffle
The following weekend we spent with Esther Ekhart in The Yoga Space Leeds

Esther teaching a full house & below a panoramic took at lunch

New Years Eve we travelled to CamYoga to finish the year with Andrea, i'm always emotional on NYE, it didn't help when Andrea talked about the little lights, i get that so much.. but what about when someone breaks all those lights top down till they all fade & go out

last year was such a learning curve... it took 38 weeks of physio for a major breakthrough... 20 weeks later I'm yet to return

Thursday 9th January we teach our first class to the general public..

YogicArts

arriving for Duncan Wong's first 3 hour class, we were not expecting to be told by reception we'd be with just 14 others.. i did freak out a little on the inside.. you really can't hide in a class that size.. it was such an honour to be part of & i will remember it for a very long time... i'm sure like many other Yogi's these high profile teachers seem so daunting to work with but when you are with them, they really are very inspiring

Michael Gannon.. Sheffield... October 18/19/20

12 hours of yoga with Michael Gannon.. friday we began at 6.30 with 'Ashtanga Meditation' ...half primary followed by a 30 minute chakra meditation

Saturday we started with a 20 minute silent meditation, followed by a Killer Arm Balance session, that finished at 2pm, after lunch we did his Opening Your Lotus, we were free to leave at 5.30pm

Sunday we did a full Primary with the full vinyasa between every pose.. by closing i literally couldn't do another Chaturanga.. though i did the best headstand i've ever done, i was just too tired to think too much at that point.. worked a treat

I don't ache quite so much as i thought i would.. while Michael is a very good example of a superior Ashtanga teacher, he didn't really teach me anything.. it was all very nice though.. he has a wonderful calm presence, i like that a lot, some male teachers are just so ego driven
